Keeping NotiSpark up to date

NotiSpark keeps itself up to date: fixes and improvements arrive without you having to do anything.

On your computer

Once a day NotiSpark checks for a new version and downloads it quietly. When it is ready you see a small message: “Restart to update”. Click it, or just keep working: it installs the next time you close NotiSpark.

After the update a short “What's new” tells you what changed.

Every update is checked against NotiSpark's digital signature before it is installed, so only files published by NotiSpark can be installed.

Check now, or turn automatic updates off

Settings → About → Updates: “Check for updates”, and “Update automatically” (on by default). With it off, NotiSpark still tells you when a new version is out.

Linux .deb package

The Linux .deb package updates through the system, so it asks for your password when you click Restart to update.

On your phone

Google Play updates NotiSpark on your phone, during the beta too.

Pro one-time license and new versions

A one-time license covers every update of its version on your computer (for example every 1.x version). When a new major version comes out (2.0), your computer stays on your version and NotiSpark offers the upgrade; it is free if you bought in the year before it came out.

If you don't upgrade, you keep your version as long as you like, and it keeps working with the phone app and NotiSpark Sync for at least 2 years after the new one comes out, and gets important and security fixes for 1 year. After that it keeps working, just without fixes. The phone app is always included, whatever its version.
